Am sure it’s great but have no idea how to use it!

Ok so I ordered this presuming that it would come with some kind of instructions but apparently not!
So unfortunately some years ago I fractured my spine and although lucky and still have full use of my body it does cause me a lot of pain on a daily basis. Like all parents I have no choice but to work and so my husband suggested trying one of these Lumbar supports.
We have messed around with it and tried to fit it as we feel it should be but unfortunately was hit with a warning on wearing it incorrectly and so frankly am too frightened to wear it at all. I have to say though in complete honesty, when my partner fitted it for me as he thought it should fit. The support is great, it works to relieve the pain by supporting my back and kind of forcing it into the natural position my back should be.
The reasons above reflect the reason for 3 stars, I have full confidence that it would work properly I just feel that I can’t give 5 stars when I can’t use it through fear of fitting incorrectly and doing more damage than good.

I should say though also that this Lumbar support is very strong, well stitched and hides well under my clothes, I can see me getting the right advice and wearing this under my clothes without being conscious of anyone knowing it is there.
On this basis am happy to recommend this product to someone who either 1, knows how to use it or 2, can find advice that makes them confident to use it!

Since moving house and laying a patio 4 years ago I have the concessional bout of stiff rear back pain. The muscular damage was done four years ago and every now and again it comes back. On the recommendation of my builder brother in law I have been wearing this support belt for the past week on and off. I have also been to the Doctor so am using the belt with his advice and in conjunction with lower back exercises. The belt is a bit of a squeeze to get on, which is the idea as once it is on it does compress and support the lumber region. The main velcro straps are very robust and secure and keeps the belt in place. The supporting vertical region on the rear of the belt is very sturdy and provides the necessary support. The two extendable straps allow even greater fitting of the belt and increases the support. I have been wearing it straight onto my skin and then wearing my clothes over it. I was expecting that it would hurt a bit, but although you can feel it, on the support is not painful. I thought it may feel like the discomfort you feel if you have too smaller waist trousers on, but this is not the case. Don’t get me wrong, when you take it off you can feel the release. I have used it most days but only for about 3 hours at a time as it does ‘hurt’ a bit when I am sitting down in the office. It is quite comfortable when I am standing up and has provided me with the support required. My back is getting better and it is also sorting out the pain down the back of my legs. Saying that I am going for a scan next week to make sure there is no trapped nerves.

Some years ago I broke 5 bones in the base of my spine whilst steer riding (badly I may add). The recovery was slow and painful. Torn ligaments and bone fractures do heal over time but they retain the memory of the damage. Every now and again I get a hard twinge that reminds me of that damage, moreso when it is cold. It is at those times when my body just needs some support to help it recover quicker.

Having also done weight lighting for many years, I know the importance of protecting and supporting the lumbar region. What is vital is having the support that suits your body. Back in the days when I was weight lifting, most of us resorted to pure leather straps of a generic size. Whilst these worked, they didn’t fully transfer the stresses evenly around the torso, often being the limiting factor in our lifting abilities. Stresses were often transferred to muscle tissue and ligaments which would tear and sometimes snap.

When I saw this product amongst the market of suppliers, I could see it had positioned itself at the upper end of the price table. However as I stressed before, poor quality or ill fitting products such as these, can cause serious injury to your lumbar region. I was pleasantly surprised that before the product arrived I received an email from the seller/manufacturers stating some important facts about these products:

Release side flaps from velcro before fastening the main fastener.
“It is necessary to open the side flaps of belt that have been fastened with the Velcro strap, before fastening the main fastener”
The first part to fasten is the main Velcro on the belt. Next to be fastened are the side flaps. 

This of course reiterated in the information guidelines supplied with the product. I cannot stress the importance of putting these types of products on correctly, they will cause more harm than good if not. It was a nice touch to make the email personal to me, making me aware.

Wearing the belt is comfortable for this type of product and gives me relief to the pains suffered, offering good support taking some of the stress away from the injured areas. The level of elastication allows for movement but it wise to empty your bowel and bladder before wearing. The velcro does ‘creak n crack’ a bit when I sit down, but gives no hint of releasing until I do it myself. Its light colouring allows me to wear it under shirts without being overly noticeable. Overall I am a happy bunny.
